Flash climbing | Bouldering

Choose a grade and ascent style, then log your climb. Use Undo to remove it.

How to do this exercise

First round. You need to choose 10–20 boulders and make one attempt on each of them. The boulders should be within roughly one grade range above or below your usual flash level. Second round. You make up to three attempts on the boulders you didn’t manage to flash in the first round. Third round. You try to send the remaining boulders that you couldn’t climb in the first and second rounds.

Your first visit and your personal week

Visitors see an introduction. After sign-in, the home page starts with a week. If you have an assigned coach or a saved AI plan, this is your own calendar. Start today’s workout opens the first unfinished block today. No scheduled workout is different from a completed training day.

Premium, AI Coach and Personal Coaching

Premium is for independent training: use fresh weekly climbing sessions, add your own general strength (GPE / ОФП) and climbing-specific work (SPE / СФП), and learn from courses. AI Coach provides a personal plan to follow without regular personal coaching. Personal Coaching adds individual reviews, video feedback and plan adjustments. €10/month Premium means €120 charged yearly; the one-month pass is €49. Check the full billing period before paying.

Plan, template and recorded result

A template is a reusable workout. Scheduling creates an entry on a calendar date. Completing that entry records what you actually did. Editing a template is not the same as correcting an existing result; copying a workout is not proof that it was completed. The playground below the introduction is local until you explicitly choose Save to my real calendar.

Search, replace, repeat and extend

Use the exercise library to find a movement and its equipment or measurement type. Replace changes the exercise; Repeat duplicates an exercise block; Extend repeats a sequence of sets. Add set creates one more target. Reorder changes exercise order. A superset alternates its grouped exercises. Open the exercise information to check technique before choosing it.

Targets, suggestions, MAX and actual results

Reps, seconds, additional weight, rest and left/right side describe different things. A grey weight is a suggestion, not a saved result. Enter the load you actually use. MAX is an instruction to work at the prescribed maximum, not a numerical weight or an automatic personal best. Keep sides and equipment consistent when comparing records. Exercise notes and media provide context beyond the numbers.

List, Follow and Auto

List is the whole workout; Follow guides one set at a time. For supported timed sets, Auto runs preparation, work and rest without a tap at every transition. Repetition results still need input. Done records your result; Failed is a failed attempt, not completion of the target. Finish ends the workout. Practice all three modes in the training block above. Its short sample rests are for learning the interface, not a prescribed training session.

Pause, resume and unfinished training

Use the available timer controls when you need a pause. Returning to an unfinished workout can offer saved progress; check whether you want to resume or start over. Do not mark a whole session complete just to close a screen. The practice runner is temporary and resets when you change blocks or reload; it does not simulate account recovery.

Quick log, copy, move and calendar templates

Open a workout’s action menu to see the actions available for that entry. Quick log is for recording work already done; Move changes its scheduled date; Copy creates another entry; Delete removes the selected entry. Day and week templates help reuse a schedule. Preview the destination date and existing sessions before adding a whole week.

Rest, Sick, Vacation and outdoor days

Calendar markers describe availability or context rather than ordinary exercise sets. Rest day, Sick, Vacation, Competition and outdoor climbing have different purposes. Sick can shift affected planned sessions; inspect the resulting dates. Sick/Vacation can restrict scheduling. Outdoor bouldering and lead days provide a route to recording outdoor climbing. These calendar rules are not simulated by the small tutorial calendar.

Climbing grades, styles and mistakes

In the Climbing practice block, choose a grade and ascent style, log a send, and use Undo to remove a mistake. Flash and redpoint describe different ascent styles. Keep the climbing discipline and grade scale consistent. A logged climb is a result, not a change to the planned target.

Correcting results and reading progress

Open a completed workout, choose Update where available, correct the actual values and Save. Restart is a new execution flow; it is not a substitute for correcting a typo. Compare equivalent exercise variants, grip sizes, sides and protocols. A bigger number is only useful when the measurement is comparable. Training Snapshot summarises training; exercise charts and Training Lab answer more specific questions.

Open Training Lab
Tests, questionnaire and training cycles

The AI questionnaire captures goals, level, available days, time and equipment. Tests measure specific capacities; follow their protocol and record actual results. Training Lab combines evidence and suggests relevant assessments. Missing data is not a zero score. Retest under comparable conditions and review changes to your schedule or equipment before generating another plan.

Choose English or Russian in the course catalogue. Free articles are available publicly; Premium unlocks paid learning content. Where an article includes a workout, its calendar action adds a scheduled workout. My Articles is the author’s own list, collapsed by default. Creating articles through the website is restricted to administrators.

Challenges, competitions and athletes

The home community panel switches between Challenge and Competition. Competition lists separate ongoing, upcoming and past events. Open an event for its rules and result entry; following a challenge is separate from adding a training week. Supported athlete cards preview the current week; open the profile for the full public plan.

Sharing, export and account boundaries

A public profile or shared plan is different from permission to edit an account. Check what a sharing action includes before sending a link. Calendar feed links and exports are available in the relevant calendar or coach tools; they are not exercised here. Links labelled Open or Browse leave this tutorial and can lead to real account actions.

Coach and administrator tools

Coaches work with assigned athletes, review completed results and equipment, and plan upcoming weeks. Library tags, pinned templates, shared days, exports and AI planning tools depend on role and screen. Administrators also manage the catalogue, courses and test protocols. These tools are not part of a normal trainee account. This tutorial does not grant access or use a real athlete as a practice account.

Language, theme, timers and billing support

Use settings for the available theme, calendar and timer preferences. Set preparation time before a timed workout. Confirm whether a displayed price is monthly billing or the monthly equivalent of a longer payment. For subscription or account questions, contact Climbest through the purchase page; changing a practice setting does not change a subscription.

The complete Climbest flow

Planning and training form one loop. Logging what actually happened makes the next weight suggestion and the next week more useful.

  1. Set up
  2. Choose a plan
  3. Schedule
  4. Train & log
  5. Review & adjust

1. Set up your athlete profile

Climbest can only make useful recommendations when it knows who and where you are training.

  1. Open Profile and add age, height, weight, climbing experience, and your current climbing level.
  2. Open Training Setup and add your gym, available boards, weights, hangboards, and other equipment. You can save more than one gym.
  3. Keep this information current when you move gym, buy equipment, or change goals.
  4. Use the Share button on your profile to copy its public link. Workout editing and private account tools still require sign-in.
Do this before tests or the AI questionnaire: body weight, climbing level, and equipment can change the recommendation.

2. Choose where your plan comes from

You do not have to build every week from zero. Pick the amount of guidance you want.

  1. Challenge Hub — copy a complete published week with tests, climbing, GPE, SPE, and load progression.
  2. AI plan — answer the questionnaire and let Climbest build a week around your goals, days, time, and equipment.
  3. Custom workout — choose every exercise, set, target, and rest interval yourself.
  4. Courses — learn a skill and add course workouts to your calendar.
  5. Personal Coaching — a coach reviews your feedback and completed results, then adjusts your plan. AI Coach offers a ready-to-follow personal plan without regular personal coaching.

3. Use the calendar

The calendar is your home base: planned sessions, completed work, and changes all meet here.

  1. Day view focuses on one training day; Month shows the bigger picture; Week is a compact list.
  2. Tap an empty day or Add workout to schedule a template.
  3. Tap a workout to preview exercises, duration, and the Start button.
  4. Long press a workout for actions such as Quick log, Edit, Copy, Move, or Delete.
  5. Completed workouts are struck through, so planned and completed work are easy to distinguish.

When the week changes

  • Move a session instead of rebuilding it.
  • Copy a workout when you want the same template on another day.
  • Use the week strip to check order and training density before you start.

4. Build and edit a workout

A workout template describes what to do. You can edit it before scheduling or adjust a scheduled copy.

  1. Search the exercise library, add exercises, and set reps, time, weight, rest, and side when the exercise uses them.
  2. Use Add set to repeat an exercise and Reorder to drag exercises into the right sequence.
  3. Use supersets when exercises should alternate. The shared badge shows that they belong together.
  4. The workout name controls its calendar category and color, for example Climbing, GPE, SPE, Mobility, Warm-up, or Test.

Understand grey weight suggestions

  • A grey number is a recommendation calculated from comparable exercise history and the target reps. It is not a logged result.
  • A number you type is the actual planned value. Changing reps should not silently save a grey suggestion as your result.
  • MAX is a deliberate maximum-effort instruction, not a random numeric weight.
  • If Climbest has no comparable history, the weight can stay empty — start conservatively and log the result to teach the next recommendation.

5. Do the workout

During training you log sets and results — that is how progress is tracked.

  1. Tap a workout in Day view, review the plan, and press Start.
  2. List shows the whole workout; Follow guides you set by set; Auto advances supported timed sets through preparation, work and rest.
  3. Mark completed sets and enter what you actually did: weight, reps, time, and side when relevant.
  4. Use the preparation and rest timers instead of estimating intervals.
  5. Press Finish only when you are done. That saves the session to history and marks it completed.

6. Track progress

Completed data becomes useful feedback: compare the plan with what actually happened.

  1. Open an exercise to see History and Progress charts for reps, weight, volume, or exercise-specific metrics.
  2. Use Training Snapshot on your profile to see sessions and hours for the current week.
  3. Review skipped workouts and incomplete sets as well as personal bests — both should affect the next plan.
  4. Repeat tests under similar conditions so the result is comparable.
  5. Adjust templates, AI answers, or coach instructions when progress stalls, equipment changes, or pain appears.

7. Make it comfortable

A few settings remove friction every time you train.

  1. Choose the default calendar view: Day, Month, or Week.
  2. Choose the theme that is easiest to read in your gym.
  3. Set the workout timer mode and preparation time before timed exercises.
  4. Return here if the app opens on the wrong calendar view or the countdown feels too short.
